"GET RID OF YOUR JEANS FOR GOOD" - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
From when does this promotion run?
The promotion starts on Monday 27 July, and will continue as long as voucher stocks last. We hope to run the promotion for at least 2 months, but this will depend on the response we get.
Can I only bring Levi's® Jeans in for donation?
No. Any brand, colour, style or size of jeans are acceptable as long as they are still wearable.
What does “wearable” mean?
Whether or not the jeans are considered wearable is at the discretion of the Levi's® Store manager, but here are some guidelines to consider when deciding what to donate:
- Fly zips must in working order and no buttons that close the jeans may be missing.
- Rips and repairs are acceptable as long as the top block & crotch of the jean is not ripped i.e. jeans can be worn without exposing underwear
- Jeans should be clean i.e. washed (if the jeans have paint or other permanent marks on them, this is acceptable)
- Shorts, ¾ capris and full length jeans are all acceptable – as long as they are denim
- Frayed leg openings are acceptable
Is this promotion only valid at Levi's® Stores?
Yes it is, though we will announce other collection points via the media from time to time. Your voucher can however only be redeemed at a Levi's® Store.
Are you collecting jeans for men and women?
Yes we are.
Can I also donate children’s jeans?
Yes you can. The same conditions apply that they must be wearable.
Are only jeans being collected?
Yes, though shorts, ¾ capris and full length jeans are all acceptable – as long as they are denim.
How many pairs of jeans may one customer donate?
You may donate as many pairs as you wish, as long as the store has enough vouchers on hand to honour your donation & can physically accept the donation in terms of storage space in store. Remember though that each voucher can only be redeemed against one pair of jeans purchased.
Do I have to buy a new pair of jeans immediately?
No, you will be given a voucher that you can use anytime between 27 July and the end of November 2009
How does the voucher work?
For every suitable pair of jeans you donate, you will receive one voucher. Each voucher can only be redeemed against the purchase of one pair of Levi's® Jeans from any Levi's® Store. The voucher gives you three options:
- Purchase any jeans below R650 R100 off OR
- any jeans at R650 or more R150 off OR
- any jeans at R699 or more R200 off
Can I use the voucher against any item other than jeans?
No you may not. The voucher is only valid when buying Levi's® jeans.
If I hand in three pairs of jeans and get three vouchers, can I use them all when I buy one pair of new jeans?
No, only one voucher can be redeemed against one pair of new jeans purchased. To use all three vouchers you would need to buy three pairs of jeans.
I am a Levi's® Loop member – will I earn points if I buy jeans using the Get Rid Of Your Jeans For Good voucher?
Yes you will earn points on the amount you pay after the value of the voucher has been deducted. i.e. If you buy a pair for R650 and get R150 off, you will earn points on R500.
I am a Levi's® Loop member and earned a R75 voucher with my points which is owing to me – can I use this as well as the GROYJFG voucher on the same transaction?
Yes you may – your Levi's® Loop voucher is yours to redeem whenever you wish.
May Levi's® staff participate in the promotion?
Yes they may, but they may not claim any staff discount in addition to the voucher discount when they buy their new Levi's® jeans.
Why are you doing this?
The Levi's® team is very conscious of the environmental challenges facing our world, and is committed to sustainability as a business strategy. Repurposing or recycling is a core component of being kinder to our environment. The company also has a long history of giving back to the communities in which its jeanswear is produced & sold and this promotion is a response to both of these commitments
Who are your partners on this project & why?
With a shared love of local original music & our beautiful planet, the Levi's® and Rocking the Daisies teams are a natural fit. Levi's® has been a proud sponsor of this eco-friendly music festival since 2007. In keeping with their sustainable living policy, they host the most environmentally friendly festival around, and are now extending the concept to Johannesburg with Rocking the Gardens. Biodegradable packaging, recycled paper, hemp clothing, LED lighting, bio diesel generators and a conscious attitude are just some of the ways they are changing South African festivals and lifestyles in general.
What happens to the jeans you’re collecting?
They will be donated to the disadvantaged communities supported by Rocking the Daisies and Rocking the Gardens. All jeans collected in Cape Town will go to Rocking the Daisies communities, and the jeans collected in JHB, DNB & Bloem will go to Rocking the Gardens communities. We will issue a Press Release about the donation at the time.
