LEVI'S® VINTAGE SUNDAYS STAYS IN CAPE TOWN FOR JULY

Levi's® Vintage Sunday’s will be continuing its hugely successful Sunday night jaunts in Cape Town for the month of July, bringing the ever-increasing crowd an eclectic array of South Africa’s hottest live talent. All the choice you could wish for absolutely nothing - it’s for free. So extend your weekend for a few more hours, and come down to get down to the music. From the 12th of July the gigs move to Green Dolphin at the V@A Waterfront, with the eclectic sound of jacSharp who is already exploding both in the international and South African markets will surprise you with their unique genre of music. They’re followed by one of the country’s most successful rock bands, Prime Circle who has recently just released their third, and undoubtedly best record, nominated for a SAMA award. They’re always a revelation live and all you need for a power-packed evening. On the 19th, three more top acts set the enchantment alight. First up is Steve Newman, an accomplished acoustic guitarist who has traveled and traversed the length and breadth of SA playing his magic and gathering a formidable following of loyal fans. Next up, Saudiq Kahn who was inspired by Flamenco guitar music at an early age, was determined to find a way to learn the music he loved. Come and enjoy this fusion jazz, classical, African and Flamenco guitar, it’s a sure treat. Babu ends this musical Jazz fest with an improvisational practice of Indian classical music. No doubt you will leave feeling exhilarated from this powerful performance. The final Sunday in July, the 26th, Jade Lounge plays host to another trio of excellence. Starting things off is Gary Thomas. He is constantly writing songs that challenge both himself, his instrument and his audiences and who balances meticulously crafted songwriting with dynamic vocals and contained improvisation. He’s followed by Julia Jakobsen, who’s music is a blend of traditional folk and quirky indie pop, with rock occasionally seeping in. She writes from the heart and lays her soul bare – come and be moved!! Ending the night and Levi's® Vintage Sunday’s in Cape Town is Andy Lund. The music has a slight melancholic edge, but moves with a sense of hope and a feeling of dirty romanticism…. The music is heartfelt and mesmerizing.
